FINAL WEEK BLOG

I was off again this week due to complications however we already as a group managed to get our poster to a stage that all we needed to do was work on our own individual sections/elements in order to complete the assignment. I then read feedback from prior weeks

my composting toilets are situated in the courtyard garden area (shown above in 2D, 3D and photographed) that is also being used by all other members of the groups and benefits other peoples designs such as allowing Carla to design a garden in which her cafe design can also save money in the long term by using fertiliser and re using water from the site. Carlas entire concept was about growth and bacteria which are all things that happen within composting due to the presence of microbes breaking down the waste products etc. The space is currently very under developed with the shed not serving a purpose so by getting rid of it and replacing it with a reclaimed timber framed shed was a solution that I found, this is also good as it doesn't have to be pre fabricated it can be made to any measurement on site. I fed ideas into the group and reminded people such as Archie that it doesn't always have to be perfect as there are flaws in design and if you want to have it perfect by worrying about where things are stuck then it would never be complete. I feel like I was very level headed and kept the peace within the group allowing everyone's inputs and voices to be heard but also made suggestions if I felt that things could be done differently.

shown above is the type of Roof id like to use apart from making it less transparent.

I then looked at MUF and Mark Lemanskis work alongside with the video suggested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FHMoRMHZEQ which focusses on the people also being represented within the drawings to show activities etc some examples are shown below.

I like the way the way the figures don't draw too much attention to themselves however give the sense of motion and the space being used by the people. for my design I changed my section to incorporate some of these fundamentals that hopefully makes my piece more complete. I also added animals such as worms and birds to show that the space will not just impact the humans that attend but also the environment.

It felt weird not using 3D software to create the final design and instead layering images etc but I quite enjoyed the challenge of trying to demonstrate my vision without relying on what I've already been taught and accustomed to it made me use parts of my brain in order to find a solution that still represents who I want to be as an architect and designer.

finally I spent some time finishing my working drawing ready for submission and photographing videoing it.
